BOTSWANA RUGBY REFEREES’ SOCIETY

The B.R.R.S has always been in existence but informally previously known as the Rugby Referees’ Association. We were then fully recognized as an affiliate to the B.R.U .

As you will notice, we have a number of Junior Referees so this Society is still under a lot of development. Emmanuel Masinki is the only local referee who has officiated at international level, as a referee when he went to Mauritius about two years ago to ref at CAR games, This tournament included Mauritius, Re Union, Mayotte and Tanzania.

Emmanuel Masinki also represented Botswana as a referee at the recent Zambia Castle 7’s tournament which took place this year in August. Tiger was also a referee at the just finished C.A.R South / East Women’s 7 tournament. We also saw local Touch Judges / Assistant Referees Jerome Alabu , Eric  Andrew, Alecs Basitang , Larona Morapedi , Ronnie  , Morwa.

Andrew and Shaun are the only local officials who have represented Botswana numerous times as Touch Judges at the 6 nations and other regional C.A.R tournaments at 15 a side. We are currently looking at developing our officials by providing them with much needed upgrading courses and we are looking at recruiting more female officials. The structure that we hope to put in place we believe will cater adequately for all stakeholders countrywide.
